Below is what we learned in November!
PCC Word of the Month: Self-Discipline
During the month of November, students worked through the book "Hunter and His Amazing Remote Control". Students learned the importance of self-control in their daily lives as well as ways to implement self-control. The buttons on the remote include:
Pause- This teaches students to stop and think before they say or do.
Channel Changer- Rather than getting frustrated or stuck on a negative thought, we need to change our channel or our way of thinking.
Rewind- In order to process our behavior, sometimes we need to rewind back to our choices in a particular moment and reflect.
Fast Forward- This teaches students to fast forward and think about what would happen if they made a particular decision.
Coach- We call need some positive encouragement... the coach button helps us decide which button to push.
Zapper- Sometimes we need help to STOP and think...the zapper button zaps us so we are more present in our decision making.
Slow Motion- Use this button when you want to slow down your thinking and control your impulsivity!
Students worked through a workbook as well as made their own remote control to take to their classrooms!
